LMVC with Kidgate Boys’Choir

LMVC Kidgate 131206 007a lrOne of our annual treats is to sing with the Kidgate Boys’ Choir at our December concert, this happened on Friday night in Nichol Hill Methodist Church, Louth, in aid of RAFA’s (Royal Air Force Associations) 63rd Wings Appeal in commemoration of the LMVC Kidgate 131206 016a lrBattle of Britain. We sang to a full to bursting audience of mainly Mum’s, Dad’s & Grandparents, as Nick Adam’s, one of our MCs commented, ‘not a dry eye in the house’ but I don’t think any wet ones were for LMVC, we were merely the supporting act, but as Nick went on to say later ‘We can all remember being like these boys and in years to come…’ Our other MC for the LMVC Kidgate 131206 030a lrevening was John Hards, as dapper and eloquent as ever. Our song selection was a cut down version of our latter concerts but with the inclusion of two carols at the end, the boys sang a number of unusual and fun pieces. The format was, LMVC marched on, sang a few, then marched off the stage as the boys marched on stage on our heels, ‘cast out the old – bring on the new’, LMVC Kidgate 131206 031a lrthis happened a couple of times. First time they sang, Singing in the Bath, Viking Warrior, These are our Emotions and Electricity (from Billy Elliot). Second time, after we had sang our carols, they sang Boogie Woogie Santa, Tinsel and Tea Towels and I don’t believe in Santa. Finally we joined the boys to sing ‘Sing’ and ended with ‘Hey Mister Miller’ a real crowd pleaser and great fun.

We normally steer away from carols as it is a lot of rehearsal time for a short period of available concerts in December but Graham Burrell, our MD, is going to make a start in January to increase our carol repertoire for future festive seasons. One more rehearsal and festive sing-along at Barnie’s on the 17th before the close for this year. Back to rehearsals on the 7th January and our next concert is at KEVIS in Louth for the Old Ludensian on 7th February.
