The Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival, being one of the most prestigious in the North of England, attracts performers from all parts of the United Kingdom, eager to have their talent adjudicated and encouraged by specialist adjudicators. The venue for the event is Huddersfield Town Hall, with many classes being held in it’s magnificent Concert Hall.
There are over 140 classes for vocals, instrumentalists, piano, speech and drama and choirs. Catering for under 5s reciting their own poem or singing Walt Disney to experienced amateur vocalists singing Opera or pianists playing Rachmaninov we welcome performers from 3 to 83 years. Our junior, youth and adult choir classes attract amazing choirs ranging from four voices to 140 voices. We welcome over 4000 performers to the Festival; the majority are local performers displaying their own talents and those of our fantastic music teachers across the area.
The Louth Male Voice Choir are singing 9 pieces in 4 categories. This will be the final day of the Festival, on Saturday the 22nd February, and we will be travelling up on the day by coach.
Could be a very early start as our first performance is at 09:30 with a couple of Christmas Carols!
Director of Music Graham Burrell says “It is a privilege to work with such a devoted group of singers. With all the hard work they are putting in, and with the eclectic mix of music we are singing, we are hoping to bring back at least one trophy for our cabinet”.
